From June 14 to July 9, 2021 scientists from Research and Innovation Centre Pro-Akademia completed a month-long miscanthus gasification campaign as part of the MISCOMAR + project. The research was conducted at the Delft University of Technology, the Netherlands.
For the experiment, scientists designed a special gas sampling line that allowed the capture of heavy metals. The char obtained during gasification will allow scientists from RIC Pro-Akademia and other project partners to conduct further research, e.g. the process of leaching of elements. Performing 8 series of measurements at two sampling points showed that trace amounts of heavy metals are detectable after transition to the volatile phase, but most of the heavy metals go to the solid residue after gasification (char and ash).
